Location:
Diani house is situated approximately 30
kms south of mombasa on diani beach. The house is set in 12 acres of forested
garden with 250 meters of beach Frontage. Each bedroom has its own verandah and
direct access to the garden and beach. The garden is a haven for small animals
- sykes, vervet and the rare 'colobus angolensis' monkeys; baboons; the
tiny suni antelope; bush babies, Monitor lizards and many types of birds.
Accommodation
Diani house is one of the oldest houses on kenya's
coast. Although modernized for comfort, the house retains its original character
and charm. The house has a large central living room and a spacious front verandah
and accommodation Is for up to twelve guests in four twin / double rooms (all
ensuite) and a two roomed family cottage (with a shared bathroom). There is also
a small single Room with an outside bathroom.
Food is a special
feature of a diani house holiday with the emphasis on seafood And fresh local
produce. Meals are usually taken 'al fresco' on the verandah or
In the garden and guests can order meals on their own verandahs if preferred.
Getting there
A road transfer from mombasa (international
airport) takes approximately 1.5 Hours. Direct flights into ukunda airstrip, just
5 minutes transfer from diani house, are by scheduled service from nairobi, amboseli
and the masai mara or by Private charter. We are happy to provide more details
and to assist with bookings.
Seasons
Diani is hot and
dry most of the time, but there is always a cool breeze off the Beach. The annual
heavy long rains usually fall between april and june, and the much milder short
rains in november. The coolest months are may to september and the hottest months
december to march.
