There is no official rating system for accommodation in Africa, but we have created our own. This rating has to do with exclusivity, service and uniqueness. No gold taps, but a private butler and a bath under the stars for instance. Or far away of the beaten track and all the wilderness for yourselves. In the colum on the right you will find a selection of accommodation we have selected.

Booking through Wild Times ensures that we choose the camps that fit your budget and wishes best. You might think booking direct via internet saves you money, but this is not the case. First of all many camps can only be booked through operators like us and if camps except direct bookings they will charge you the same as we. So booking through us is not more expensive. Secondly it is not easy to choose yourself between hundreds of parks and lodges. On the internet they all look fantastic. But how good are the guides? What about the wildlife in the specific season? How about the management and how is the food? We know! As we have our partners on the ground with up-to-date knowlegde and we love to create iteneraries with the right selection and sequence of parks and lodges. A safari that will really make you happy! We focus on 3*-5* safaris, as we think that’s the most enjoyable way of going on a safari. However, if your budget is limited to a lower amount we will try to help you out and still off the beaten track. 

1* and 2* Hotels $100-$200
Below $100 you are looking at a camping safari – everything simple. Below $ 200 you are looking at big mass tourism hotels which is not what we like.

3 * Lodges and tented Camps Between US$250 - US$350
Smaller lodges or tented camps. Catering for 60-100 people. Game drives mostly organized in 4x4 vehicles.  

4 * Luxury Tented Camps US$350 - US$500 
Privately set bush camps, managed by knowledgeable hosts.  These camps cater for 20 - 50 people.  Often tented or specially built camps, with ensuite bathrooms, beautiful views, and great cuisine.  Enkipai, Serian, Samatian, Elsa’s Kopje, Little Governors, Saruni, Lewa Tented Camp, Rusinga Island,

5 * Camps and homes US$ 400-US$ 800 
All inclusive private homes /camps, run and hosted by the owners who let you share in there private life. Beautifully built places with all luxury you can think of and very knowledgeable and involved hosts and guides: Loisaba, Ol Malo, Borana, Lewa Wilderness, Sarara, Shompole, and Il Moran.

5 * Mobile Camps USD 900 onwards
Mobile camps are specially set up for you, following the best routing for the time of year or following your interest. Camps are set up in remote and beautiful areas where you have your own tent with en-suite bath room. They are run by private guides. Everything is included; full board accommodation, all drinks all game and special activities.  The ultimate ‘out of Africa’ Experience.

Hotels and private houses at the coast
The African coast/Indian Ocean is our paradise. You find unspoiled beaches with clear blue waters and if you like plenty of water sports. Not to mention the excellent sea food. Staying at the coast is a wonderful way to end your safari. Again, we like to stay away from the mass tourist type of hotels.

Prices at the coast range from US$ 100 – US$ 400 on full board accommodation. Top end hotels, naturally offer extra service and quality.
